We head out into the forest, walking – almost like a treasure hunt – as we happen upon distilled fruit beverage stands, made by local farmers. What an enchanting way to see The real Black Forest, just as the Germans do. And Germans end their day with good food and a soak in the mineral hot springs of Baden-Baden. You will see the thermal baths that made Baden-Baden world-famous as “The Summer Capital of Europe”.

Our package includes a very special walk – we call it a Distillery Walk. We will immerse you into the local tradition of walking past farmhouse distilleries and sampling these traditional beverages.

Schnapsbunnen mean Schnaps Fountain. A unique Black Forest experience.

Our trail document contains all the info you need to locate farmhouses along the forest trails which have schnaps fountains where you taste their distilled spirits. Enjoy a scenic tour around the vineyards with plenty of vista points and photostops. Here is a short video example of a Schnaps Fountain.

I don’t enjoy alcohol – is this still a good tour for me?

Even if you don’t enjoy distilled liquor or wine this is an authentic German experience. You wills till enjoy what this package has to offer as it is targeted towards anyone loving the outdoors.

On your last day you hop on a bus towards Baden-Baden. The drive to Baden-Baden leads you through the Black Forest National Park. There is plenty of picture-perfect scenery with waterfalls around every corner. You can hop on and off the bus anytime.

Upon arrival in Baden-Baden we provide you with a self-guided walking tour. Baden-Baden is one of the most famous places in The Black Forest. And when it comes to natural hot spring spas and historic casinos, Baden-Baden is one of a handful of stops for the knowledgeable world-traveler.

Itinerary

Arrival Info

Arrive in the Black Forest wine region by train. Destination train station is Offenburg or Baden-Baden. You will switch to a regional train which takes you wine area within a few minutes.

Accommodation (2 nights)

Our beautiful 3 star hotel is located in the heart of a small wine town. The local winery is only a block away.

Upon arrival we invite you for a wine tasting at the winery (included).

Then enjoy a 3-course dinner at your hotel (included). 

 

Description of your day

On the first day of your visit you will have a Spirit Walk. We have a short  walk and a longer walk, either 7 or 12 km (4 or 7 miles) your choice.

Our trail documents contains all the info you need to find farmhouses with schnaps fountains where you can stop by for a tasting. The trail is a scenic tour through the forest, around the vineyards, with plenty of picture-perfect spots.

  • The same hotel as prior night.
  • Dinner at a restaurant of your choosing. (we provide recommendations)

 

Description of your day

After breakfast you will hop on a bus to take you to Baden-Baden. Enjoy a scenic bus ride on the famous High Summit Road. We recommend a stop at Lake Mummelsee before arriving in Baden-Baden.

Upon arrival in Baden-Baden we provide you with a self-guided walking tour.

There is plenty of time afterwards to visit one of the mineral hot springs baths in Baden-Baden.

Our Distillery Hopping to Baden-Baden Package is offered as a 2 day/3 nights package. Add-on more days possible.

Hotel Rooms

  • Double Rooms. If you are booking a double room there is one double bed with 2 individual mattresses (not 2 twin beds). If you require separate beds we recommend booking 2 separate rooms. In rare cases twin beds are available, please inquire.
  • Single Rooms. If you are traveling by yourself, we charge a single room supplement. You will either be provided with a single room. Or with a double room for single use based on availability.
  • Bathrooms. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms.
  • Breakfasts – included.
  • Dinner – 3-course dinner on arrival night included.

You will receive tour descriptions and maps from us upon check-in at your first hotel. 

 

 

  • Mobile Phone Coverage. Please note that the Black Forest is a mountainous area. Often there is no mobile phone coverage when touring the Black Forest. Our app does not require a connection.
  • Wi-Fi in hotels. All of our hotels have wi-fi but sometimes it can be spotty in your room – depending on the location of your room.
