I want to see the sights…

Our Black Forest Luxury Package takes you to some choice places in the Black Forest. But the specialty is flexibility. You get to choose and pick the areas you are interested in. If you don’t know, we provide suggestions.

Some people prefer to tour on their own, others prefer to tour with a guide. Our Luxury Package provides both. We want you to have plenty of time to do your own thing. But then we have lots of suggestions of things you might do.

If you don’t feel comfortable touring on your own, there is always the option to have a guided tour. Whatever you need – we will figure it out.

Itinerary

Arrival Day

Arrive in the Black Forest by train. You are staying in a beautiful medieval town. We equip you with all the information you need to explore this beautiful town upon your arrival.

Accommodation (2 nights)

You are staying in a 4 star boutique hotel located in a restored historical building with sauna and wellness facility. The hotel has WiFi and A/C. Great way to start your holiday!

Day 1: Sightseeing on your own – by train

On the next day, we provide you with several options on how to spend your day:

You can either stay in town and do nothing: just relax and take in daily small town life in Germany (which means visiting a beer garden or sitting in a cafe eating Black Forest cake)
Hop on the train (free) and explore the area with one of our self-guided train tours (all info provided by us). Explore some lesser-known towns deep in the valley with options to walk up to a castle ruin.

Go on a half day easy hike – we provide all the trail info and hiking instructions, you cannot get lost. The hikse we recommend is are between 2-6 km long. You can start hiking right from your hotel.

Day 2: Changing towns & hotels – transfer by car

After breakfast it is time to say good-bye to this beautiful town. Our driver will meet you at your hotel late morning. This gives you enough time to explore town a bit more. Enjoy a driving tour of the Central Black Forest.

There are several stops to choose from: – roads not traveled by tourists – you are in for a treat!

We will certainly customize the driving tour for you – many visitors want to spend some time a the German Clock Museum, others prefer a visit to one of the most romantic old Black Forest mills or a visit to a sightseeing tower. We can include the Triberg clock area, a castle ruin or a wiskey tasting. It is all based on what you want to see and do.

The tour ends at your next hotel.

Accommodation in the Central Black Forest (2 nights)

For your stay in the Central Black Forest area you have the choice of several hotels.

Option 1: stay in a remote mountain town

This beautiful 4 star wellness hotel happens to be located in a remote mountain town. The hotel has extensive wellness facilities with several pools & saunas.

Good to know: No cell phone reception at the hotel. No A/C at the hotel (but most often not needed as you are high up in the mountains)

What to see and do the following day if staying at this hotel: This is a good hotel to stay at if you want to just relax. The hotel has an extensive wellness area where you can easily spend an entire day at. You can also rent an e-bike to get around or go on a hike. There is no town close-by. But we can easily schedule a pick-up for you to get you down into town (20 minute car ride). There you have a beautiful old town (or 2) to explore, have lunch, take pictures. You can also hop on a train to take you to the open-air farmhouse museum. A driver will pick you up again and bring you back to the hotel.

Option 2: stay in a remote mountain town

This beautiful 3 star hotel is located 2 km (1,2 miles) outside of town centre with a sauna on site. The restaurant at the hotel is known all over the region and we highly recommend eating there. This might be one of the best restaurants you will eat at during your stay! This is a newly remodeled boutique-style hotel, owned by the same family for many generations.

What to see and do the following day if staying at this hotel: We will provide you with a e-bike to get around. There are several good bicycle trails starting right from the hotel. You can ride into town for lunch and explore, head to the open-air farmhouse museum or ride up the valley to visit another town. There are several hiking trails we recommend. Interested in a train ride? The hotel is 2 km (1.2 miles) away from the train station. An easy, flat walk. Alternatively the friendly hotel owner can either give you a ride to the train station or we schedule a driver to take you there.

Gourmets are familiar with the name Baiersbronn. The town is known as the Secret Michelin-Star Capital of the World. Baiersbronn’s restaurants boast a total of 10 Michelin Stars and they are a must visit on Germany’s fine dining circuit.

In the morning our driver will pick you up from your hotel. You visit a picturesque medieval town. For the next two night you will be staying at a 5 star hotel with its own Gourmet restaurant. Enjoy the extensive wellness facilities, go for a short walk to a nearby cabin and enjoy lunch.

We have 2 options for your evening. We either try and get you a reservation at one of the best restaurants in the world. Or we organize a 4 course dinner walk through town – within 5 km we organize 4 stops at various restaurants for you.

As for the time in between, you can do a lot or just take in the amenities. Its your choice. Spend your time in town, or go for a hike in The Black Forest (info package included), or rent an e-bike to explore on 2 wheels. We can arrange a bike guide if you prefer.

If you enjoy wine, we highly recommend to add-on two nights in the wine country. You may not know that The Black Forest has a very large wine region.

We work with a beautiful 3 star Superior hotel in the heart of a wine village, only steps away from the local winery where you can taste the local wines.

The following day we have a treat: a walk in the forest where you may come across wild strawberries, black berries, raspberries, and schnapps fountains. Schnapps fountains are little kiosks found along the forest trails where locally distilled schnapps can be tasted. If you have never come across such a thing in the middle of a forest – put this on your bucket list.

German Schnapps may require an orientation. Germans know nothing about sweet American schnapps (a liqueur) and Americans know nothing about German schnapps (a distillate from fruit). Both are often surprised that the other exists – and disturbed that these two very different beverages go by the same name. So if you are from North America and visiting us in The Black Forest, you should set aside your notions that schnapps is sweet or tastes like peppermint. German Schnapps is a pure distillate of fruit, most similar to grappa (a brandy). American’s use Peppermint Schnapps in mixed drinks, whereas Germans drink schnapps “neat” or unmixed and without ice, at room temperature.

What better way to end your stay in the Black Forest than in a town known fot its ancient world-renowned mineral hot spring ? Baden-Baden is waiting for you.

Baden-Baden is one of the most famous places in The Black Forest. And when it comes to natural hot springs and historic casinos, Baden-Baden is one of a handful of stops for the world-traveler.

Our driver will take you through the Black Forest National Park on your way to Baden-Baden. We add a few stops before ending at your 4 or 5 star hotel.

Combine your Black Forest visit with a stay in the nearby Alsace region of France in the town of Colmar – a medieval town with excellent food in the middle of wine country. Every corner of Colmar offers picture-perfect scenery and rich history.

Colmar’s history is unparalleled, having played central roles in the millennia of French-German history most people don’t know about, or the history you may be familiar with in both WWI and WWII. If you are a history buff, you are in for a real treat.

But you don’t need to be a history buff to enjoy a private walking tour of town. Our guide will take you around town on a private walking tour so you have a solid orientation and you will know where things are located.

We provide an all-day tour with a private guide & car. There are several day tours you can choose from. See some of the world renown Alsatian wine villages nearby, do some wine-tasting and take in the culture.

With our Black Forest Luxury Package you will be staying in different areas of the Black Forest. Please have a look at the day-to-day itinerary to find a description of each hotel and its location.

Hotel Category

All our hotels are either 3, 4 or 5 star hotels. In some areas you may choose between different hotels.

Hotel Rooms

Double Rooms. If you are booking a double room there is one double bed with 2 individual mattresses (not 2 twin beds). If you require separate beds we recommend booking 2 separate rooms. In rare cases twin beds are available, please inquire.

Single Rooms. If you are traveling by yourself we charge a single room supplement. You will either be provided with a single room. Or with a double room for single use – based on availability.

Bathrooms. All rooms have private en-suite bathrooms.

Air-Conditioning. Most of our hotels in this category do have air-conditioning. If not, it is mentioned in the desciption.

Elevators. Most of our hotels in this category do have elevators. If not, it is mentioned in the desciption.

Mobile Phone Coverage. Please note that the Black Forest is a mountainous area. Often there is no mobile phone coverage when touring the Black Forest.
Wi-Fi in hotels. All of our hotels have wi-fi but sometimes it can be spotty in your room – depending on the location of your room.
If you require constant online access we do NOT recommend touring the Black Forest. Consider staying in a large town like Baden-Baden or Freiburg instead.

Our six member group did Black Forest Tours' six day tour, and we were very pleased.

We told Simone Brixel what we were interested in doing and left the rest to her. She is very knowledgeable, and we felt that her itinerary allowed us to make the best use of our time while getting a really good feel for the Black Forest

The Black Forest is vast, and getting around is not always easy.
It was a joy to just sit back in the van and enjoy the scenery as Simone narrated our journey and took us to the sites we wanted to tour.
