Tip: Since Gegenbach is a small town, hotels are very expensive and there is not much in the way of modern amenities. However nearby at the entrance to The Black Forest is the town of Kehl. Kehl (Germany) has cheaper hotels and is ideally located so you can also visit Strasbourg just across the border in France. Offenburg is also nearby and has most modern amenities (such a McDonald, shops, etc.) In fact Kehl is ideally located for your base-camp from which you can explore most of The Black Forest and beyond.
