The Black Forest? I knew it was somewhere…

map of the black forest germanyThe Black Forest (in German: Schwarzwald) is essentially composed of two densely wooded mountain ranges in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in southwestern Germany. About 200 kilometres (120 miles) long and 60 kilometres (37 miles) wide, the Black Forest encompasses an area of approximately 12,000 km2(4,600 sq mi). It is bordered by the Rhine valley to the west and south and touches on France and Switzerland. The highest peak of the Black Forest is the so-called ‘Feldberg’ with an elevation of 1,493 metres (4,898 ft). The Black Forest is not only one of the most varied and beautiful, but also one of the biggest and best known holiday regions in Germany.Baden-Wuerttemberg with its 35 districts can broadly be divided into Baden and Wuerttemberg. At Black Forest Tours we specializes in touring Baden with its biggest attraction – the Black Forest. We also know our way around the wine regions Ortenau and Markgräflerland. And depending on your time we can also take you to the bordering Alsace region of France (castles, wineries) and Switzerland (Rhinefalls).
