Our driver will meet you at your hotel in Basel and take you to Freiburg where our tours start from. In Freiburg your private guide will take over. We will discuss your priorities for the day to create an unforgetable tour of the Black Forest for you. We will finish our tour in Freiburg where you have the option to tour town and have dinner before our driver takes you back to Basel. Alternartively you can also hop on the train to get back to Basel. Trains run once or twice an hour.

This is an all day Black Forest tour from Basel, Switzerland. Our driver will meet you at your hotel in Basel to bring you to Freiburg in the Black Forest. This is where you meet our local guide. The tour ends in Freiburg where you have the chance to tour town and have dinner before our driver takes you back to Basel.

Be aware of scams. German law is very strict with reference to commercial transportation of passengers. It requires all commercial passenger transportation to be handled by licensed operators. Driver guides as well as transport services of any kind are required by law to have a commercial passenger transportation license and insurance coverage for cars and passengers.

If you see discounted rates for driver guides in Germany be aware! You can easily tell whether a car is licensed to carry passengers or not. All licensed vehicles are supposed to display a number on the rear window of their car. (‘Ordnungsnummer’ in German). It is either a blue sticker (chauffeur service) or yellow sticker (cab service). If you don’t a sticker you are most likely touring with an unlicensed vehicle. The stickers are displayed in the right corner of the rear window:

BEST TOUR WE EVER TOOK! OUR FAMILY LOVED IT!

If you are wondering if you should splurge on this tour, the answer is absolutely YES!

After a month-long European vacation filled with dozens of tours, every member of our family agrees that our day with Black Forest Tours was far and away our favorite. Why? Because this company has something that we have never seen anywhere else. They LOVE this area, they are extremely knowledgeable, and they truly CARE deeply about creating a unique experience that you will never forget. We were treated like family from the start. This might sound overstated, but it's not. Days before the tour, we received a survey asking about our interests. Simone responded with ideas based on our answers and curated the perfect day for us. We went hiking, saw waterfalls, went on an amazingly terrifying bridge, rode the best toboggan coaster, and sampled the most amazing foods, all while our guide was getting to know each member of our family. The experience was one that immediately became one of our greatest life memories.

What was really shocking was that, after reading through other reviews, I realized that our experience was so different from everyone else's and yet they all loved it. This company truly listens to what you want and knows enough about the area to focus on the parts that you might enjoy most (although I do not think you can go wrong there!). In a world where people seem to be going through the motions and looking for the next instagram photo-op, this was a truly authentic experience with people who are passionate about showing you the best of this incredible area. In a perfect world, this is what all tours would be like. We can't wait to go back!

A great day in the black forest!! with a great guide and great driver.

We had a great day! We saw the beauty of the forest and the countryside with the farms. We went into some small villages, did some shopping and had some black forest cherry cake (yummm!!!) Simone is a very knowledgeable guide and a very pleasant person to talk with. She also arranged for us to have a private chauffeur to take us to Rothenburg the following day, so we could avoid the stress of train travel!!! We so appreciated that.

Black Forest Day Trip

Simone was our guide for a great day, driving through the countryside of the Black Forest. She was awesome! She speaks excellent English and was very accommodating to our requests, including some Genealogy research and cuckoo clock shopping. Her car was really comfortable; roomy and stocked with water. Simone is a great guide and we highly recommend her!

Black Forest Bliss: Food, Wine Festivals, and Hidden Gems!

This was the perfect way to experience the black forest region. Simone was amazing at really tailoring the experience to what we wanted to see and do and then also included hidden gems we would have never known about. We were able to stop in multiple towns and experience so much food that was unique to the area. She even knew about a wine festival that was happening in Freiburg and recommended we check it out, and we had a blast!
